How to get to Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida is reached by fast boat from Bali, in roughly 40 to 45 minutes. There are two harbours to leave from in Bali and three to arrive at on Nusa Penida, and the right combination depends on where you are staying on both sides.
Leaving from Bali

Sanur Harbour. The main departure point, and the right choice if you are staying in Uluwatu, Seminyak, Canggu or Sanur. It is a modern harbour now, with restaurants and coffee shops while you wait, and it keeps being improved.

Kusamba Harbour. More convenient if you are coming from Ubud, Sidemen, Amed or Lovina. It saves a long drive across to Sanur.
Arriving on Nusa Penida

Buyuk Harbour. On the north east coast, around 10 minutes from Villas Roc-Azur, Villa Helios and Villa Kerylos. Some crossings to Buyuk run with air conditioning on board.

Sampalan Harbour. Also around 10 minutes from Villas Roc-Azur, Villa Helios and Villa Kerylos. Fewer crossings than the others, and often only early in the morning, so check the times before you plan around it.

Banjar Nyuh Harbour. Closest to Villa Tropikarma and to the main part of the island. Around 30 minutes by scooter from Villas Roc-Azur, Villa Helios and Villa Kerylos. It has the most crossings and boats running throughout the day, so it is the most flexible option if your timing is not fixed.
Choosing your harbour
Arriving at the harbour nearest your villa saves you a transfer across the island at the end of a travel day.
But Banjar Nyuh runs all day while Sampalan is mostly early morning, so the best choice is a balance between distance and timing.

Going back
The same applies in reverse.
Book the return from whichever harbour suits your departure time, not necessarily the one you arrived at.
Boat tickets
We book our guests' boat tickets through Ticketboat, at a discounted rate.
We use them for everything, and the reason is the service. They are reachable whenever we need them, and on an island where a delayed boat changes someone's whole day, that matters more than the price.
Book at least one day in advance, and further ahead in high season.
